The Haunting of Whispering Woods"
On a cold, moonless night, Rahul was driving through a deserted highway surrounded by dense woods. His car’s headlights barely pierced the thick darkness ahead. Everything was eerily quiet except for the occasional rustling of leaves, which sounded unnervingly close.
Suddenly, his car sputtered and stopped. Rahul tried to restart it, but the engine wouldn’t budge. Frustrated, he stepped out with a flashlight. As he opened the hood to check the engine, he heard a faint laugh—soft, almost like a whisper, but unmistakably nearby.
“Hello? Is someone there?” he called out, his voice echoing into the emptiness. No response.
Rahul felt a chill run down his spine. He turned back towards the car but froze in his tracks. In the beam of his flashlight, he saw a figure standing by the roadside—dressed in white, with long, unkempt hair covering its face.
"Do you need help?" Rahul stammered, trying to sound braver than he felt. The figure didn’t reply but raised a hand, pointing towards the woods.
Against his better judgment, Rahul followed the direction of the pointing hand, his flashlight trembling in his grip. As he walked deeper into the forest, the laughter grew louder, now accompanied by whispers. He turned around to go back, only to realize he couldn’t see the road anymore.
“Stop playing games!” Rahul shouted, his voice shaky.
Then he heard it—a voice, chilling and hollow: “Why did you leave me here?”
Suddenly, his flashlight flickered and went out. The darkness swallowed him whole, but the voice didn’t stop. It grew louder, closer, and more desperate: “Why did you leave me to die?”
Terrified, Rahul ran blindly, tripping over roots and branches, until he stumbled back onto the highway. His car’s headlights had mysteriously turned on, casting a faint glow on the road. He jumped into the car, and this time, the engine roared to life on the first try.
As he sped away, Rahul glanced in the rearview mirror. Sitting in the backseat was the figure, its face now visible—a pale, hollow-eyed woman, staring straight into his soul.
He screamed, the car swerved, and everything went black.
The next morning, locals found Rahul’s car wrapped around a tree. They whispered among themselves about the haunted highway, where a woman’s spirit roamed, seeking revenge for her untimely death. Some say Rahul joined her, doomed to wander the road forever.!
